It has been a dream World Cup for the United States. They edged out former champions Pakistan to enter the second round and it remains to be seen whether they can test the big boys.

The US lost to South Africa in their opening game of the second round and challenging West Indies on Friday is a demanding task. But they will learn by this experience playing all the big teams.

West Indies are overwhelming favourites in this game in Barbados. They have lost their opening games and it’s a must win game for them.

West Indies are waiting for news on their opening batter Brandon King, who had to retire hurt in the game against England with a side strain.

West Indies have Shimron Hetmyer and Shai Hope in the bench and whether one of them will come into the equation if King is ruled out or whether West Indies will go for the all-round option of Jason Holder will be an interesting discussion topic at the selection meeting.

West Indies also made a big call to leave out left-arm quick Obed McCoy from the England game but felt his absence. He is expected to make a comeback to the side.

Opening batter Andries Gous has been vital for the USA side coming up with some match performances and a lot depends on him as to how well they shape up in this game. With 182 runs he is the second highest run getter in the tournament.

Left-arm seamer Saurabh Netravalkar has been a great find for USA. The former India Under-19 fast bowler has claimed wickets with the new ball and has bowled in good lengths in death overs and batters have found it difficult to go after him.

The Caribbean people have turned up in numbers to support their team in this campaign and a big house is expected in Barbados as they are playing their first game in the island.
